Mireya Moscoso Also Involved in Slot Machine Scandal
(Panama-Guide) By SANTIAGO Fascetto for La Prensa - The government changed. The political party in power also changed. However, history repeated itself. And there was no room for chance. Former Panamanian President Mireya Moscoso (1999-2004) awarded a direct concession to operate seven slot machine rooms and five sports betting agencies to a company called Silver Cup Gaming Inc. For this contract, approved by the Executive Cabinet on 20 February 2002, the company did not pay a single penny to the state, according to information obtained from the Gaming Control Board by La Prensa through a request for information made in accordance with the Transparency Law.
