Torrijos Asks for Rights To Be Guaranteed for Former Minister Accused fo Corruption
(Panama-Guide) Panama America - Former Panamanian President Martín Torrijos on Wednesday urged the judicial authorities of that country to guarantee the rights to a legal defense, for one of his former Ministers of Eduction, Belgis Castro, who was arrested yesterday for alleged acts of corruption in the management of a multi million dollar fund for school repairs. Torrijos, who made these comments in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic after attending a conference, said he does not oppose the investigation of the former cabinet minister, but his country should ensure Castro has access to "all" of the guarantees established by law so that he can defend himself against the accusations that have been made against him.
