General Rejection of Transportation Strike
(Panama-Guide) By URANIA CECILIA MOLINA and MALEMA DE LEON for La Prensa - About 17 hours after they called for a general strike of Panama's public transportation network, the National Chamber of Transport (Canatra) suspended the strike, which provoked a generalized widespread rejection from all sectors of society. The decision to end the strike was announced at 4:30 pm yesterday, and although it was reported the strike would end just after midnight at 12:01 am early this morning, some bus drivers and owners began providing service immediately.
