PCIS Starts Again!

Panama Coast International School is proud to announce that its second year will beginning on August 10 for high-school students and on September 7 for elementary students!  The school opened just a year ago with four students and graduated 25 in June!  It expects continued growth as more and more families are choosing to settle in the beach communities. The American-based program for students K to Grade 12, offers individualized plans for each student.  Besides covering all curricular areas in English, students learn Spanish language and local history and culture.

“Volunteers are a welcome addition to our program,” stated Kress.

1. The school seeks volunteers that are interested in teaching mini-courses in art, music, sports, life skills like cooking, first aid and gardening, language, or any new, fun and useful idea!  These courses will run one afternoon per week for one month.  “We know there are very talented people in this community and hope that folks will share these talents with our students.  We will help design the courses and teachers will be available to support the volunteers.”
2. Weekly volunteers are also needed to work with one to three students at a time playing games and reading to help students practice their academic skills.  Volunteers can choose their day and time and the staff is happy to work with flexible schedules.
3. If you would like to help in a non-teaching capacity, there is plenty to do around the school!

“All students work on computers for part of the day.”

4. Your computer may be too old and slow for you, but it would be perfect for PCIS students!
5. Donations to the PCIS Technology Fund are welcome!

Kress noted, “Ours our non-traditional classrooms where students make themselves comfortable in hammocks, sofas and on the floor when they do not need to be at a table!”

6. The school needs furniture; donations and bargain deals are welcome! It especially needs tables, chairs/sofas, mats, hammocks and patio furnishing.
7. All types of toys and sports equipment are needed!
8. Used motors for our engines course or any dead electronics that the kids can take apart and analyze would be great.
9. Have it, but not sure they need it?  Just ask!
