Electricity Rates in Panama To Be Reduced 6%
(Panama-Guide) By Elizabeth Garrido A. for La Prensa - The President of the Republic, Ricardo Martinelli, today announced a 6% reduction in the costs of electrical energy that will take effect on 1 August 2009. This reduction is in addition to the 4% decrease announced for the second half of the year (which has already been applied) that only applies to customers who consumer more than 500 kilowatt hours (kWh) per month. Thus the total reduction as of 1 August 2009 will be 10%, said Martinelli.
