Finca La Maya Benefit a Success

Finca la Maya’s benefit on Saturday, July 18, raised scholarship stipends for three student workers Alex Martinez, Zulay Vogt and Lloele Muñoz. These students are instrumental in helping carry out Finca la Maya’s mission. Finca la Maya provides English lessons, computer lessons, and art classes as well as maintaining a library for as many as 100 student visitors each Saturday.

In recognition of the invaluable help these students provide and to help them further their education Finca la Maya pays a scholarship stipend to each student of $10 plus $5 for travel expenses each Saturday.

Eighty guests attended the benefit and bid at the silent auction which funds the scholarships for Finca la Maya’s student teachers.

The next benefit is scheduled for January, 2010.
