Inscription Begins Today for New Entitlement - "100 A Los 70"
(Panama-Guide) Today the administration of Ricardo Martinelli began signing up people for their new social program called "100 A Los 70" - which will pay a $100 monthly check to any Panamanian who is both over 70 years of age and who is not receiving any other kind of monthly pension or payment. This program was one of Martinelli's cornerstone campaign promises, and today they have opened up centers around the country where people who qualify can begin to sign up. They expect the first payments will be made before the end of this year, retroactive to 1 July 2009 when Ricardo Martinelli took over the government. Foreigners are not eligible for the program, only Panamanians or foreigners who have since become naturalized Panamanian citizens.
