Concern Over Aftershocks in Panama

Garrido for La Prensa - The National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) and the Institute of Geosciences (IGC) in Panama are on alert due to the strong aftershock at 11:10 pm last night, following the magnitude 6.3 earthquake that shook the provinces of Panama, Colon and the Kuna Yala region last Saturday night. Arturo Alvarado, the Director of SINAPROC told RPC Radio this magnitude 5.9 aftershock was due to the movement of tectonic plates, and that the trend in these kinds of events is there is a likelihood of more aftershocks, but of intensity.
