Martinelli Gives Police Officers A Huge Raise
(Panama-Guide) By RocĂo I. Martins A. for El Siglo - Panama's President Ricardo Martinelli said he would be giving a big raise to high ranking police officers, while the rest of the force will be getting an additional $100 per month as he promised during the campaign.
Martinelli made his announcement at the ceremony handing command of National Police to Gustavo Perez.
The funds to pay for these raises will be supported by an extraordinary credit and $20 million dollars that will be removed from the budget of the National Assembly of Deputies, money that was being used to pay for "botellas" (employees who were on the payroll but who don't actually show up for work) said Martinelli.
