Beaming smiles lit up the day in El Nance when a local little league baseball team received a generous donation of 12 baseball bats and 14 mitts. The team consists of 16 players who practice daily and play every Sunday in a newly-refurbished stadium in the small town of El Nance.

The popularity of the sport in this community can be easily judged by the large local crowds attending these games. The Panama Sur Rotary Club had received a donation from Malta Vigor in the form of baseball bats and gloves for distribution to communities throughout the country. Rotarian Mory Belanger, familiar with the activities of Finca La Maya in the community of El Nance, near San Carlos, donated the equipment on behalf of the Panama Sur Rotary Club.

Starr McCamant of Finca La Maya then coordinated with Vincente Martinez, local representative for the El Nance team, to deliver the donated equipment. Several of Martinez’s sons attend the free English, art and computer classes at Finca La Maya. This kind of collaboration can truly make a difference in the lives and communities of local youth.
