newsnviews2.jpg(blog.abpanama.com) If you came to Panama for a vacation you can ignore this because you came here to get away from depressing daily news.

However, if you intend to live or work here you might just want to keep up with the news. The best choice is to learn Spanish and watch TV or read one of the newspapers. But if your Spanish is “challenged” then you need to find English language news.

English Language News Options

Cable TV in Panama has CNN, Fox, and Bloomberg. Check with your local cable provider and sign up.

There are internet shops all over Panama City and getting DSL installed through the phone company, Cable and Wireless, is no too time consuming nor painful. If the internet is your news source you have total access in Panama. Also if you are looking for Panama real estate  internet searches are useful.

There are also a number of internet magazines featuring local events such as the Playa Community at Coronado or the Bocas Breeze in Bocas del Toro.

The major paper in town, La Prensa, is all in Spanish although you will see English language ads. On line in La Prensa (prensa.com) there are always four or more articles translated into English.

There are many news papers and news magazines. The news magazines at your hotel are filled with background information about Panama and are vehicles for promoting business and real estate in Panama.

The only local English language newspaper in Panama is an insert in La Estrella (the star) and is The Panama Star. Sunday’s the insert in La Estrells is the international USA Today.

At times you will see The Miami Herald, an old edition, at one of the El Rey supermarkets.

If you are planning on staying here get your hometown news on line and your local news in La Prensa or The Panama Star. Better yet, start working on your Spanish.
