Penonome’s 3rd Annual Art in the Park promises to be even bigger and better!
Saturday March 21, 2009 10a.m.-6p.m (8a.m. for artists to set up) The Park/Plaza of Penonome located in front of the Catholic Church at the end of the Main Shopping Street of Penonome. A group of art loving philanthropists, civic minded residents and artists of Panama are once again presenting the 3rd Annual Art in the Park of Penonome. Last year was a huge success. 42 artists from all over Panama participated. This year promises to be even bigger and more exciting!
Below is what to expect:
To hear beautiful music from individual musicians and the Youth Orchestra of Panama.
To be informed by three very interesting speakers including Ricaurte Martinez, the President of Ganexa, a prestigious Art School of Panama.
To enjoy the beautiful and passionately painted works of some of Panama’s well-known professional artists including Ahmed Hassan, Alirio Trujillo, Clemente Quiros, Itzel Vega, Shirley Mills, Anna Maria Lizan, Carmelo Figueroa to name a few. All the art displayed will be for sale.
To be dazzled by the diverse works of 14 art students from Ganexa Art School and other art students vying for the scholarships. Their works will also be for sale.
To see the students’ art judged and 4 well-deserved scholarships awarded.
To win the raffle! A painting donated by artist Ahmed Hassan will be raffled off. The painting is “La Espera/In Waiting” Oil on canvas 26hX38w cms. Tickets are $3.00 each. (Picture Attached)

Arrangements will be made to get you your tickets. Also, tickets will be sold the morning of the event at the Park.
The purpose of the event is to raise money to provide scholarships for art study for the young and promising artists of Panama. Artists who sell paintings give 10% of the proceeds to the scholarship fund. Each scholarship costs $350.00.
Of course, any scholarship donations will be welcomed and greatly appreciated.
Please gather your friends and come to Penonome. Make it a fun day supporting the Arts of Panama.
If you want to purchase art, it is a good idea to be there early. Last year many pieces were sold right at 10 a.m! The prices range from $20.00-$2000!
In the evening: The San Antonio District near the Plaza is sponsoring a “grand”dinner and music on the street of the Museum to celebrate the re-opening of their little theater. The tickets are $15.00.
