(PanamaNewsRoom) Forty three U.S. Peace Corps volunteers who have arrived in Panama to teach English  and provided technical support in schools and communities across the country, were sworn in on Friday, March 25 at the residence of American Ambassador Phyllis Powers.

The ceremony, conducted by the ambassador, was attended by  Minister of Education, Lucy Molinar, and  the director general of the Peace Corps-Panama, Brian Riley.

The volunteers will be based in Bocas Del Toro Chiriquí, Cocle, Darien, Herrera, Los Santos, Panama East, West Panama, Veraguas, Ngaba-Region And Bugle.

this year marks the 50th anniversary Peace Corps an autonomous institution of the United States government to provide human resources and training to assist in sustainable development programs at the community level.

Peace corps-Panama currently has 217  volunteers working on environmental conservation, economic development, sustainable agriculture, and teaching English and environmental health.
