I wanted to make people aware of an ongoing public safety issue in Coronado. Near the corner of Estrellas and las Perlas, there is a man who, in the opinion of many people in the area is a danger to the public. This past Sunday, this man became upset with a neighbor, who was allegedly making too much noise with his 4 wheeler. The man went through the neighbor’s gate and was trying to pick a fight with the young men there. There were around 5 men at house, the neighbor was yelling at them saying “I am going to kill you all” and then proceeded to smash a mirror on the persons 4 wheeler. Even though the young men were mad and upset at the neighbor they restrained themselves from doing anything to this guy and called the police. There was a very old lady in the house (grandmother of one of the young men) who was so terrified and upset she had to be taken to the hospital for chest pains.
After this incident, the man proceeded to go to another neighbor’s house where a senior couple live. The man has had a problem with the couple before. The man is always blasting his music the lady asked him if he could turn down the music. The man replied to her with very rude sexual innuendos about her husband, who is over 80 years old. The lady saw the man coming to her house in a rage and ran inside her home to hide. At that point, the man picked up rocks from the road and threw them at her house and also threatened to kill her and her husband.
From there he went to another house where a family with children lives. There was a 13 year old boy who was at home alone. The man ran to the gate of his house and started shaking and banging on the gate and yelling in English….”you son of a bitch, you son of a bitch, I am going to come in there and kill everyone”. The boy called his parents and neighbors who rushed to the house to see what was going on. The boy doesn’t know if the man entered the gate or not but needless to say he was badly shaken by the incident.
By the time the boy’s parents and neighbors arrived, the police had arrested the menthe man assaulted two officers and in the assault destroyed 2 uniforms and the man had to be pepper-sprayed.
Later that evening, the parties involved had to go to press charges against the man.The man is a renter in Coronado. The Coronado resident association has been informed of this incident. After everything the man did, the police were prepared to let him go with a 190 dollar fine as well as paying for the uniform of the cop that he ripped. He stayed overnight in jail and was released after paying the fine. He also has a restraining order against him for the neighbors that were involved in the incident. We are very surprised and disappointed that the association did not take any steps to have this man banned from Coronado.
The man drives silver Lincoln SUV. He is Panamanian and speaks English and Spanish. We want people in the area to be aware that at any time there can be an incident with this person. We would like to hear from anyone who has an incident with him .On another note, we are not sure if this is related or not but there has been a rash of thefts in our immediate area of computers, purses stolen from people’s houses, a bicycle was stolen from another neighbor. We heard but cannot confirm that the man was pointing a gun at someone in Coronado, but the police found out it was a fake gun. This is only the tip of the iceberg with this individual, there are more incidents to report but for the sake of keeping it brief I will stop here.
