“But seek ye first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
This teaching of Jesus comes at the conclusion of the passage where our Lord talks about worry. Our focus should always be on seeking God. According to Jesus, if we seek God, our needs will be met and everything else just falls into place.
When we reached our record high of 80 at Coronado Bible Church, there was a tangible spirit of excitement and anticipation. As we enjoyed such a time, we still must keep Jesus’ teaching in mind. Numbers aren’t what really matters. If we as a church make our priority to seek God and His righteousness all the numbers will take care of themselves. I believe we will continue to grow in numbers, but more importantly, we are to be about leading whoever comes our way into the joy of worshipping and serving Jesus.
What tends to be the focus in your life? If you’re like me sometimes the focus gets to be on various concerns. Jesus reminds us of our priority. Seek God. He is the source of everything we need.
