goldfinchA typical finch, small (10 cm - 4 in), rotund and a short sharp conical beak, the male Lesser Goldfinch has a black head, wings and back. They frequently have random white markings on their backs. The female differs in that its back is a light olive green but still has the yellow underside. Although they are in Coronado year round they are more common in the summer (Jan - Apr). Their diet is almost entirely seeds.
