Changing Your Name? PDF Print E-mail

altIn 2006, a New York City judge allowed a Jose Luis Espinal to legally change his name to Jesus Christ.  It took a hearing before the judge would agree to the unusual request.  After being granted the name change Mr. Espinal said he was “happy” and “grateful” that the judge approved the name change.  He also said that he decided to seek the name change over a year before when it occurred to him that, “I am the person that is that name.”

Now it’s possible that dear old Jose has a Messiah complex.  It’s also possible that he has an issue, like many of us, with wanting to be served and thinking more highly of ourselves than we ought.  However, it’s also possible that Jose is on to something.  You see, God’s Word teaches that Christ lives inside of each of us who have received Him as Lord and Savior.  The Bible also says that the mind of Christ is in us.  Christ-like character shows up in our lives as we allow Jesus to gain further control of our lives.

I guess we could all change our names to Jesus, but then that would be pretty confusing!  May God bless you today!
