Panama Facts

The Pollera is  the National Costume of Panama. Girls and women would generally own two polleras during their life: one before age 16 and one at adulthood. A single pollera can cost from several hundred to several thousands of dollars and take up to a year to create. The gold and pearl mosquetas and tembleques that accompany a pollera are generally passed down as heirlooms through generations.

(PanamaNewsRoom) The $52 million extension of Panama’s Coastal Strip (The Cinta Costera) due for completion in April, is already having a positive impact on  the area say local businesses.

This extension, starting at the seafood market, includes a new road, a vendor plaza, landscaping, a pedestrian pathway, underground parking, and a 1,650 square meter cultural plaza, said  administrative manager, Arturo Graell.

He reported on Wednesday (March 16)  that work is 98 percent complete, including 85 of the 154 modules for the Vendors Plaza, and the multipurpose dock to replace the two outdated piers.

José Manuel García and other operators of barges and ships, fishermen, and tourists, who travel to the islands of the Las Perlas archipeligro.have benefited from  the development.The port offers a waiting room, restrooms, boarding facilities temporary storage depots, and offices for the Ministry of Health, Panama Maritime Authority, Water Resources Authority, and Customs Department.

The new cultural plaza, nearing completion will   be used to host cultural events will It will include104 underground parking spots, a playground, and an amphitheatre.
